It All Matters
You may have heard this story before.
Once upon a time, a fisherman came upon a young boy on the beach. The boy was working feverishly at the water’s edge, picking up objects and throwing them into the ocean. When the fisherman got closer, he realized that the objects were actually starfish, stranded by the low tide.
“Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?” asked the fisherman.
“The tide has gone out,” said the boy, “and if I don’t throw them back they won’t survive.”
The fisherman looked down the beach and said, “This beach goes on for miles, and there are starfish along the entire stretch. Your effort can’t possibly matter.”
The boy picked up another starfish, threw it into the ocean, and turned the fisherman: “It mattered to that one.”
Whatever you can give matters. Whatever you can do matters. Big or small, it all matters. Thank you for making a difference.
